(v0.9 Pre Release Notes)
We have been quietly putting a huge amount of work into the next generation of FireApp, the official desktop application for Fire Power Cloud customers.
FireApp already makes it easy to view your Fire Power Cloud Boxes, control their power and connect remotely without dealing with complicated control panels. Our next updates are focused on turning it into a much more complete home for your Fire Power Cloud experience.
Our next major prerelease, FireApp v0.9.0, is planned for the coming weeks, ahead of the full v1.0 release in Q4 2026.
A Completely New Look
One of the first things you will notice is the completely redesigned interface.
We have rebuilt the layout across the application to make everything feel cleaner, easier to navigate and much more polished. Boxes are clearer, important information is easier to find, and controls are positioned where you would naturally expect them to be.
There will also be proper Light, Dark and System appearance options, allowing FireApp to match your own setup.
This is not simply a new coat of paint. We have been reviewing nearly every part of the customer journey and improving how it feels to use FireApp every day.
Built Around Gaming
FireApp is being developed with cloud gaming at the centre of the experience.
We are working on improved streaming and connection support, including:
- Controller support
- H.264 and H.265 support
- AV1 support
- Refresh rates of up to 144Hz
- Easier gaming-focused connection options
- Clearer guidance for getting your Box ready to play
Our goal is to make connecting to a Gaming Box feel much closer to launching a game on your own computer: open FireApp, choose your Box, connect and play.
A Better Way to Connect
The connection experience has been completely redesigned.
Instead of presenting customers with a single unexplained connection button, FireApp will provide a guided Connect area with clearly explained options.
Customers will be able to choose between Remote Desktop, Parsec and our developing Direct Connect experience, with instructions provided inside the app whilst we finalise the built in client for v1.0
This means less searching through documentation, fewer confusing setup steps and a much easier experience for new customers.
Support, Without Leaving the App
Support is becoming a fully integrated part of FireApp.
The new Support Hub will allow customers to open, view and reply to support tickets directly inside the application. You will be able to follow the full conversation, see when our team has replied and manage your existing requests without repeatedly switching between FireApp and a browser.
We are also adding integrated live chat.
When our team is available, customers will be able to start a live conversation directly from FireApp. Replies will appear throughout the application, so you can continue managing or using your Box without missing a response.
Troubleshooting That Actually Helps
We also want FireApp to help customers solve simple problems before they become frustrating.
We are working on clearer status information, guided troubleshooting and more useful feedback when a Box is starting, restarting or preparing for a connection.
For example, instead of pressing the power button and wondering whether anything is happening, FireApp will provide live progress updates and let you know when your Box is ready to connect.
Where possible, the application will explain what is happening in plain English and help point customers towards the correct next step.
FireApp v0.9.0 — Coming Soon
FireApp v0.9.0 will be prereleased in the coming weeks.
This version will introduce the foundations of the new FireApp experience, including the redesigned layout, improved connection flow, integrated support, live chat and smarter Box controls.
As a prerelease build, v0.9.0 will also give us an opportunity to gather real-world feedback, make final adjustments and continue improving performance before the full launch.
FireApp v1.0 — Arriving Q4 2026
Our full FireApp v1.0 release is planned for Q4 2026.
Version 1 will bring together everything we have learned while building and operating Fire Power Cloud into one application designed around our customers.
Our aim is simple: FireApp should make cloud gaming and remote computing feel easy, polished and accessible, whether you are a long-term Fire Power Cloud customer or connecting to your first Box.
There is still plenty more to share as development continues.
FireApp v0.9.0 is coming in the next few weeks, and this is only the beginning.
